Angina Pectoris
Angina pectoris or Wind also called
ischemic heart disease Seating is defined as a reduced supply of oxygen and
decreased blood flow to the myocardium . The disorder could be due to the
oxygen supply drops ( the presence of coronary atherosclerosis or coronary
artery spasm ) or increased oxygen demand . As a manifestation of these
circumstances will arise Angina pectoris that can eventually develop into a
myocardial infarction . Angina pectoris is divided into 3 types: classic angina
( stable ) , variant angina , and unstable angina .
Classic angina usually occurs while the
patient doing physical activity . While the regular variant angina occurs at
rest and is common in the morning . Unstable angina is unpredictable when it
happened , can occur at rest and can happen while doing physical activity .
Antianginal drug consists of various groups . Therapeutic options include class
nitrate antianginal medication , beta blockers , and Ca channel antagonists .
Angina ( angina pectoris - Latin for chest
bullied / depressed) is chest discomfort that occurs when there is a decreased
blood oxygen supply to an area of heart muscle . In most cases , lack of blood
supply due to narrowing of the coronary arteries as a result of
arteriosclerosis .
Angina is usually felt as :
- pressure ,
- objection ,
- tightening ,
- extortion , or
pain across the chest , particularly
behind the breastbone.
This pain often radiates to the neck , jaw
, arms , back , or even the teeth .
Patients may also suffer from :
dyspepsia ( indigestion ) ,
heartburn ( pain in the pit of the stomach
) ,
- weakness ,
- sweating ,
- nausea ,
- seizures , and
- shortness of breath .
Angina usually occurs when exercise ,
severe emotional stress , or after a heavy meal . During these periods , the
heart muscle demands more blood oxygen than the narrowed arteries can provide.
Angina typically lasts from 1 to 15 minutes and is relieved by rest or by
placing a nitroglycerin tablet under the tongue . Nitroglycerin relaxes blood
vessels and lowers blood pressure . Both rest and nitroglycerin reduce
myocardial demand for oxygen, thus freeing angina .
Angina is classified into two types:
1) stable angina (stable angina) or
2) unstable angina (unstable angina).
Stable angina
Stable angina is the most
common type of angina, and is what is meant by most people when they refer to
angina. People with stable angina have angina symptoms on a regular basis and
the symptoms are somewhat predictable (for example, climbing stairs causes
chest pain). For most patients, the symptoms occur during exertion and commonly
last less than five minutes. They were relieved by rest or medications, such as
nitroglycerin under the tongue. while ....
Unstable angina
Unstable angina is less common and more serious. The symptoms are more severe and less predictable than the pattern of stable angina. More than that, the pain-the pain is more frequent, last longer, occurs at rest, and was not released by nitroglycerin under the tongue (or the patient needs to use more nitroglycerin than usual). Unstable angina is not the same as a heart attack, but it requires immediate visit to your doctor or hospital emergency department as further cardiac testing is needed. Unstable angina is often the prelude to a heart attack.
